No you don’t need to be able to swim, there is no water on the course that you will not be able to stand in with your head above water.
Is the Mestival 10km hard?
It is important to stress that this is not a race, it’s a course designed to challenge you physically and mentally while giving you a great sense of achievement and enjoyment. Due to it not being a race, you can take as long as you want and therefore make it as hard as you want to make it.

Is there adequate parking?
We have a very large field which is within a stones throw of the event to accommodate all your parking needs. Parking is free for anyone visiting our event.
How can I get to the Hesleyside Mestival?
We appreciate that Hesleyside is a good drive for most people, and also with alcohol on sale we don’t want anyone driving home under the influence! Due to this, if there is sufficient demand we will be putting on a bus service from Hexham and Newcastle throughout the day. If you would like to opt in for this service please tick the box on your entry form.

Why are there waves?
Certain obstacles can lead to bottle necks if the participant density is too high. In order to make your circuit as fluid and as enjoyable as possible we have to split the total number of participants throughout the day.
What should I wear?
What you choose to wear is up to you! Please keep in mind that you will be getting wet and muddy! Clothing will get heavy and suitable footwear is advised. Within reason we will let you run in whatever you like, the funnier and more inventive the better!
How long will the route take?
There is no time limit on how long you can take. We just need to make sure that everyone is off the course by 8.30 pm. If you are conscious of being close to this cut off time then please choose an earlier wave.

There will be secure and covered male and female changing and washing facilities available to all competitors so that you can clean up and dry yourselves off so you can enjoy the rest of the festivities comfortably.
Will the Mestival be timed?
The route will be timed and your individual time will be available after the event, However we stress that it is not a race and we use chip timing mainly as a safety precaution so that we know that all of you made it round the course safely!
Is the Mestival route safe?
We work with a sports event specialised health and safety officer to make sure our course is as safe as possible. Obviously we can’t combat against every injury and accidents can happen, in the case of an accident we have a full medical team and ambulance on site. Mountain rescue will be patrolling the course as a precautionary measure. The course will also be heavily marshalled to make sure that everyone completes the course in a sensible manner to keep our event as safe as possible.
